Kenny's Birthday

Kenny was 29 on the 21st. We had a very pleasant day celebrating. Nothing extravagant, but I hope he felt loved and appreciated. It started as every day should, in Kenny's perfect world, with a hearty breakfast of bacon and eggs and opening his gift. He got a new sweater, Irish cream for his coffee, haribo candies, and a chewed up note.

We checked out a new restaurant in town for lunch, Find Four. It was just renovated and they did an awesome job decorating. We actually really liked the feel of the place, which we named "industrial chic" - we'll probably go back when we need a little escape. The food was good, it was a cool environment, and we had a nice time.

Kenny got to share his birthday dessert with the men in his discipleship group, which meets Tuesdays. It turned out great and they all approved. I used this recipe, http://www.barefeetinthekitchen.com/2012/12/turtle-cheesecake-with-caramel.html  with a few changes, of course. We don't have Oreos, chocolate chips, or pecans here, so I just crumbled some simple tea cookies for the crust, melted a chocolate bar, and sprinkled peanuts on top.

I also surprised Kenny and learned to make beans the Albanian way for his birthday supper. Obviously and typically, the way to this man's heart is through his stomach. :)
