Baby Update: Week 32

Due date: July 22, 2013

Baby size: 16.7 inch, 3.75 pound
large jicama or 19 inch, 4.5 pound honeydew melon

Total weight gain: about 23 pounds...somehow lost a couple this week. Maybe it's because of the different scale? Doctor said I was right on track.

Maternity clothes: Happy to find a box of clothes that I left in the closet at my parents. It had several dresses and skirts that are going to take me through the summer, hopefully.

Sleep: Early to bed and early to rise...with naps in between....jet lag and pregnancy are a sleepy combination.

Movement: Lots of big moving. And one time when I started skyping with Kenny, she really started going...maybe she recognized and is missing his voice!

Food cravings: Cheese! On anything and everything.

Symptoms: Heartburn, some swelling, bad eye sight, fatigue.

Gender: Girl.

Name: Our girl's first name is three syllables long.

Labor Signs: Nothing more...pretty quiet.

Goals for the Week: Don't over eat even though there's so much and it's all so good!

Things I am am doing well: I wasn't bold enough to ask for an upgrade, but I did travel well...drank liters and liters of water and got up for walks often. Rested a lot since arrival.

Things Kenny is doing well: Kenny did a lot to ensure my trip to the States was as easy and stress-free as possible. Thankful for that.

Feeling toward Pregnancy: Feeling nervous. Feeling like I should be doing lots of things and I'm not. Maybe a little in denial that her due date is just 8 weeks away.

What I miss: My rings are pretty tight and uncomfortable, so I stopped wearing them. That feels strange.

What I am looking forward to: There's talk of a baby shower after the little one arrives!

Milestones: First visit with an American doctor. It was quite different...I was weighed and measured, and my blood pressure was taken for the first time of the pregnancy. It was a good visit, I like my doctor. He diffused my worries about pre-term labor...it will happen if it happens and there isn't anything to do unless it starts, so I should continue as normal. Also had a first pre-natal class...all about epidurals...yikes.

Albanian Culture and Pregnancy tidbit: The furgon driver stopped and bought me fruit at a roadside stand and was extra careful with his driving the tough roads. In general, Albanians take very special care of pregnant women and treat them like royalty. People in the US seem understanding, but in general it seems like there's a pressure to be pretty tough and productive.
