Baby Update: Week 28

Due date: July 22, 2013 - 12 weeks in Kenny's mind or 84 days in mine. I think the days seems shorter.

Baby size: 14.8 - 17 inches, Chinese cabbage now & weighing 2.9 lbs.

Total weight gain: about 20.5 lbs or 9 kg, a pound and a half or so again this week

Maternity clothes: I'd been avoiding it, but it was time to go buy new underwear. Just really getting uncomfortable. Avoiding it because it wasn't yet as uncomfortable as I imagine the process of buying underwear in Albania would be, lol. But we had to make a trip to Tirana to visit the doctor and got to go to the store that's basically a Wal-mart, making the process a lot more simple. Oh, and I popped a button off a top this week, so that one's in retirement now, but still going strong with pre-pregnancy clothes.

Sleep: Unfortunately I've been awake and heard the 5 am call to prayer from the mosque three times this week, ugh. Just can't get back to sleep after I wake up. Usually it's a vivid dream that wakes me. Not a fan of this, but maybe my mind is preparing for baby time. So afternoon naps have been necessary.

Movement: Lots of it!

Food cravings: Macaroni salad and potato chips

Symptoms: Heartburn at night and an aching back are my only troubles right now.

Gender: Çupa (girl)

Name: I'd say the name we've chosen is traditional, but not common.

Labor Signs: None that I know of.

Goals for the Week: Get back into making my smoothies and include more spinach in my diet...neglected it for a couple weeks now. And more protein.

Things I am doing well: Amazing weather, so walking is a joy. Yoga a few times this week. Resting when I need to.

Things Kenny is doing well: Back massages and runs to the store anytime we need anything. Big blessings to me!

Feeling toward Pregnancy: Still feeling like the end is so far although we're in the last third. Anxious, a bit, I guess. Just afraid that with everything happening between now and July it's going to pass by faster than I'm ready for it to.

What I miss: I made brownies this week and was so tempted to like the spoon and the bowl. Even though raw egg is bad for you whether pregnant or not, I'd have done that without thinking twice before.

What I am looking forward to: Glucose test and checkup tomorrow. Hoping we get to see our baby girl again and praying that she's growing and developing well.

Fears or uncertainties to surrender: Realized that all my fears about preterm labor were pretty selfish ones...all about my situation. When they should really be for our little girl and her best. I'm afraid I'm going to be a terrible mother. Praying for God to help me and grow in me an unselfish mother's love.

Milestones: We're in the third trimester now!

Albanian Culture and Pregnancy Tidbit: Albanians, even if you just met, really like to touch baby bellies and always always ask, "Bebi, mire?" or "Baby's good?" I don't know how many times a day I hear this phrase. Thankfully no total strangers have felt the urge to invade my space yet.
