Over the last several weeks, well let's get real...in the last three months or since I knew I was pregnant...I might have logged maybe 5 hours of physical activity. It's a little embarrassing to admit, but its true. And we live in a city without a car or public transportation. Yeah, go ahead and judge. I know. But I've got my excuses...
I've never been the type to enjoy working out anyway. Except for the semester after I graduated from college, after I'd had about four years of opportunity to use the free-to-students rec-center, did I ever use it for solid working out. And only used it then because I wanted to look awesome cause I was getting married that summer. I just prefer playing a sport to hours on exercise (yep, misspelled that and corrected it A-gain. gah) equipment. Volleyball, basketball, tennis...these are my physical activities of choice. And where I live, these things just don't happen. So...my opportunities to move are limited to running or walking and the yoga DVD that I brought with me with the best intentions. (I really like yoga, there's no excuse for not doing my yoga. Except that I've heard you shouldn't do all the poses while pregnant and I haven't done my research to really learn about prenatal yoga.)
But my biggest and best excuse is the weather. We also live in a country that is just plain cold. Well, it isn't that cold, but houses are not built so well and don't have insulation, therefore they are difficult to warm up and impossible to keep warm. Anyway...if you know me, I hate cold. And it's just not been very pleasant out. Who wants to be out in it, walking about when it's ugly? Only crazy people and people that have no other choice...and I felt I had only two choices...stay in or get out and get back in as fast as possible.
But this blog and now the weather are busting my excuses. Check out this forecast...
So, here's my goal for the next week: get out and walk for 30 minutes 5 of 7 days and do some research and prenatal yoga at least 3 times. Not super-ambitious, but attainable. And way more active than I've been for some time. We'll see what kind of grade I make next Wednesday.
