My friend and I were leaving class a couple weeks ago and stumbled upon a treasure. We always cut through a gym to save steps, and this particular day we started to make our way through the gym and right in front of us was an old man...JUGGLING! I was immediately pleased and let out one of those delighted shrieks/squeals similar to the sound many make when they open a gift or something. I have this thing for juggling...I think it is just wonderful. It is an adored talent in my book. I will probably marry a guy that is an amazing juggler so that I can have juggling children and be happy all the time. That probably won't happen and is little too eccentric, but it was a fun thought for a second. But its true...juggling makes me happy. So we stopped and watched and he told us a little bit about his act. I'm pretty sure I smiled the entire time. It just made my day.

The story continues....

This week when we got out of class, he was there again, juggling away! We started talking and I'm convinced that this man is the most interesting man I've ever randomly met. Except we don't know his name! We'll remember to ask if he's there again next week, but I kind of like the not knowing. He has a wonderful accent and the most friendly face. He is a retired PE teacher. We asked him where he is from, and he rattled off a bunch of places. So we don't know where he was born, but he went to college in Yugoslavia and Australia and knows all about Europe He's lived in the US since the 70s and taught in New York City and Cleveland. We shared with him that we had just finished a project on the education system in Germany and he told us all about what a wonderful country Germany was. He just went on and on. I'm so interested in hearing more from this man - definitely intriguing. I bet this guy has a million and two stories to tell about all the places he's been. He made my day again!

I love the random places that being friendly can take you - the people that it leads you to cross paths with. I love people. I'm so glad that this semester I've had the chance to meet so many. Looking back at the way I felt at the beginning of the semester, I feel absolutely ridiculous for the lies that I believed about being alone. I felt lonely and tried to believe that people were just plain unfriendly, but I'm pretty sure that it was just me. There are people everywhere just bursting to share bits of themselves with others. So glad that I recognized this truth and quit feeling sorry for myself. God has brought me to a wonderful place, and I'm praisin.
