I thought about being a spy when I was little. I thought seriously about it. Of course I also thought seriously about being a pilot, a teacher, an architect, a journalist, an archaeologist, and a librarian. Anyway, I read Harriet the Spy and idolized this brilliant 11-year old. A quote from the book... " ...THEN I WILL BE SO RICH AND FAMOUS THAT PEOPLE WILL BOW IN THE SPTREETS AND SAY THERE GOES HARRIET M. WELSCH -- SHE IS VERY FAMOUS YOU KNOW."
I thought it was fate that we have the same initials. I'm not even kidding. I tried to become Harriet, doing everything except eating her favorite sandwich, mayonaise and tomato. I kept a notebook and wrote everything in it for a while. In the book she makes her own town and people in the town and makes a story about it. If you look in a shoebox in my closet at home you will find the town records for Millersville. Yeah, I made my own town. It had about 15 families and I gave each of them occupations and children and gave the kids ages. I don't really remember, but I probably felt like God or something just under him. I even made a map - yeah, it got a little outta hand.
I was a cool kid. You should have known me. I was on my way to being a great writer, just like Harriet M. Welsch. I don't know what happened between then and now. Don't even mention the lack of quality in my blogging.
Anyway... I thought about being a spy when I was little. If only those skills had been developed.
I got my third surprise party tonight. And for the third time, I was COMPLETELY surprised. My friends are pretty much the greatest. I love them and should write an entry about just how much I'm going to miss them. I think I'll do it Harriet the Spy style. You know, I'm glad that my spy skills were never honed. True surprise is a feeling that I love. Now I've felt it three times and some people haven't even once. I hope you've had or will someday be seriously surprised by a surprise party. Everyone needs to be thrown a surprise party.

I love this entry, Heather.. in fact, I love all your entries. You've told me about Harriet before, but never to this extent and I think it's so fun! There's a town called Millersville in Pa... it's real tiny, but you should go there and see if your characters are there :) I wanna come see your box some day :)
